Animals Rights March 2018

I would just like to share this important event coming up on 25th August.

As you all know, I am an animals rights activist/ vegan ninja 😛 and I am so happy that I will be a part of this year’s Animal Rights March. I can’t wait to be around such compassionate people and, of course to meet other vegans in the country! If you’re joining, do let me know, I would love to meet you! Just shoot me a message on Instagram @kymberlymaitlandsmith.

UNITE FOR THE ANIMALS!

The Official Animal Rights March is an annual vegan march founded by UK animal rights organisation Surge. The march began in London in 2016 with 2,500 vegans and in 2017 the march doubled to 5,000 vegans marching for animal liberation through London. In 2018, we’re bringing The Official Animal Rights March to the Philippines in order to spread the message of animal liberation across the globe.

In order to make this march succeed, we need your help. Invite your friends, tell every vegan you meet, this is the day where we unite, where we stand up, rise up and say no more, not in our name.

The future is vegan, but we must continue to speak out on behalf of the animals until the day that their suffering ends.

Save the date, spread the word – and let’s make history for the animals.

Assembly Point: Andres Bonifacio Shrine
Assembly Time: 11am
Route of March: Taft Avenue – Quirino Avenue – Mabini Street
Length/Duration: 6 kilometers/2.5 – 3 hours
End Point: Parade Ground, Quirino Grandstand

Here are a few reminders to help you get ready!

We are encouraging all participants to unify in wearing black shirts on the day of the march. Any writing on it would preferably have a message relevant to animal rights and veganism. This is an animal rights event, so please DON’T WEAR any animal-derived clothing (e.g., leather, fur, silk, down, suede and wool) and please DON’T BRING AND EAT any animal-derived “food”/beverages (e.g., meat, fish, honey, dairy, and eggs) during the march.

WHAT TO BRING:
* Signs/placards/banners/flags (with animal rights/vegan messages)
* Drinking water using reusable bottles
* Umbrella
* Megaphone, drums/percussion, whistle (if you have one)

We also advice you not to bring your animal companion because the activity might stress them out.

See you all on August 25 at Andres Bonifacio Shrine, Manila!

Behind The Solti Soul

Behind The Solti Soul

I have changed my website domain from 3 years of vanillaaddiction.com to thesoltisoul.com ☼

I thought, why change my content and not the title? So, after a long and thoughtful process, I decided on the solti soul.

I enjoy my lifestyle and I breathe my creation – SOLTI Activewear. For those of you who don’t know, SOLTI is a conscious brand that is dedicated to helping the environment by recovering and using waste fabrics to create locally handmade fashion for the active lifestyle. It’s not just about living a cruelty-free life, it’s about making myself and the world I live in a better place.

I know that we are on this planet with deeper and spiritual reasons which I can’t even explain, but we are here breathing, walking, eating, and living on this planet like we own it, as well as all the other creatures we’re supposed to share this planet with. This is what I hope to change. Life is about sharing, giving love, and caring for those in need, and for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Solti soul is me; the person who will fight to bring out more compassion in this world, and the woman behind SOLTI Activewear.

I hope you follow my journey and get inspired to live a rewarding life without harm, cruelty or discrimination.

Energy is only borrowed, one day we will have to give it back. ❤

They say that theres a reason why you take your kids to pick apples but don’t take them to a slaughter house, and Dana Ellyn’s paintings says it all-

What you don’t see or hear doesn’t exist, but the sorry truth is that it DOES. Every single day, thousands and thousands of animals are kept in confined spaces, are mistreated, and then slaughtered just to satisfy people’s taste buds for 10 minutes. And because no one actually sees this happening, how could it matter to them?

It all started when we were kids. Most of us ate whatever was put on our plates without question and without even being told where it came from. Advertisements on television showed hotdogs filled with cheese, burgers and spaghetti meat balls. Parents told us we had to drink lots of milk so we could grow big and strong, but no one taught us the process from animal to mouth, and why would they? Why teach anyone, especially kids about the harm caused to these animals? If they were educated about it, they probably wouldn’t eat it and that couldn’t happen because what else would they eat? “Its takes too much trouble to be a vegan/vegetarian”– and this is only because we, too were not educated on this type of diet.

In my opinion, just because eating meat is human tradition, habit and some say, a key to survival, it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t teach children how their food is made. We all knew chicken came from a chicken, pork came from a pig, and beef came from a cow, but we didn’t know what goes behind the process of animal farming, and some of us still don’t know. When we were kids, most of us loved animals and still do, so when was it okay for us to think that it was right to kill and eat them? When was is okay to eat a pig but not a dog? How did we learn to eat the way we do?

I wish I questioned what was on my plate. I wish I was taught about the horrors of the meat industry, even at a young age. I think it is important to know and to share to our children about what is going into their bodies, and of course, what happens to these helpless animals when they’re kept in factories. These days, most to all inorganic meat produce contains antibiotics, unnatural flavour enhancers and other toxic chemicals. Educating yourself about the food you eat is by far the most important thing I think anyone should strive to do.

What you’re putting into your body is what makes you. You digest it, whether it’s healthy or harmful for you.

“IF YOU CAN’T WATCH THE PROCESS, YOU SHOULDN’T BE EATING IT.”
