Animals Rights March 2018

I would just like to share this important event coming up on 25th August.

As you all know, I am an animals rights activist/ vegan ninja šŸ˜› and I am so happy that I will be a part of this year’s Animal Rights March. UNITE FOR THE ANIMALS!

The Official Animal Rights March is an annual vegan march founded by UK animal rights organisation Surge. The march began in London in 2016 with 2,500 vegans and in 2017 the march doubled to 5,000 vegans marching for animal liberation through London. In 2018, weā€™re bringing The Official Animal Rights March to the Philippines in order to spread the message of animal liberation across the globe.

In order to make this march succeed, we need your help. Invite your friends, tell every vegan you meet, this is the day where we unite, where we stand up, rise up and say no more, not in our name.

The future is vegan, but we must continue to speak out on behalf of the animals until the day that their suffering ends.

Save the date, spread the word – and letā€™s make history for the animals.

Route of March: Taft Avenue – Quirino Avenue – Mabini Street
Length/Duration: 6 kilometers/2.5 – 3 hours
End Point: Parade Ground, Quirino Grandstand

Here are a few reminders to help you get ready!

We are encouraging all participants to unify in wearing black shirts on the day of the march. Any writing on it would preferably have a message relevant to animal rights and veganism. This is an animal rights event, so please DONā€™T WEAR any animal-derived clothing (e.g., leather, fur, silk, down, suede and wool) and please DONā€™T BRING AND EAT any animal-derived “food”/beverages (e.g., meat, fish, honey, dairy, and eggs) during the march.

WHAT TO BRING:
* Signs/placards/banners/flags (with animal rights/vegan messages)
* Drinking water using reusable bottles
* Umbrella
* Megaphone, drums/percussion, whistle (if you have one)

We also advice you not to bring your animal companion because the activity might stress them out.

Squash ‘n Barley Me

Squash ‘n Barley Me

Easy and filling! This meal is low in fat and a good source of protein, vitamin A + C + K + B6, dietary fiber, and magnesium.

Cook barley with 1 cup barley to 3 cup water ratio, chopped garlic and salt

Chop up more garlic for the squash

Cut squash up into medium sized cubes and heat in a pan with dairy-free butter or cooking oil of choice till cubes soften

Add apple cider vinegar, nutritional yeast, garlic salt and pepper to taste

Place in bowl and top with ground pistachios

Vegan Apple Crumble & Cappuccino Cinnamon Ice-cream

This is my first time making an apple crumble AND ice-cream! Pretty happy with how it turned out :] I hope you enjoy these delicious, cruelty-free, vegan desserts!

Peal and diceĀ 3 red apples and 1 pear

Heat saucepan and put in the apples and pear

Add a tablespoon of brown or coconutĀ sugar (I mixed half and half), and a teaspoon of cinnamon powder

Mix and stir for 4 minutes then place the contents into an oven-safe dish

Pre-heat oven at 350 degrees F

Mix 1 1/2 cup of oats into a bowl with 1/2 cup of agave or maple syrup, 1 table spoon of coconut sugar, 3 tablespoons of coconut oil, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, a pinch of mineral salt, and a tablespoon of cinnamon powder.

Sprinkle oats evenly on top of the apple and pear mixture and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until oats areĀ golden brown and crunchy

Cappuccino cinnamon ice-cream without ice-cream machine

Make sure you have time to make this! I made this without using an ice-cream machine and it took about 6-7 hours to complete.

Ā 1 can ofĀ coconut milk – 400 ml

1/2 cup of cappuccino flavoured soyĀ milk (S&R)

1/4 cup of agave or maple syrup (S&R)

Mix into a pan and bring to simmer while stirring, then empty pan into heatproof bowl and leave to cool for 30 minutes

Ā Add 1/8 teaspoon of salt,Ā 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon into bowl and stir

PlaceĀ bowl into the freezer and let it freezeĀ for 2 hours

Mix the icy mixture aggressively with a fork until smooth and creamy

Place bowl back into the freezer and repeat after 2 hours

Do this a total of 3 times
